Our body’s natural state is that of health. The entire functioning of our body has been designed in such a way that it automatically flushes out all toxins and wastes and repairs and rebuilds all damaged tissues and cells.
Deep sleep is the time when the body actually does all these automated maintenance tasks. However, with our hectic lifestyles, improper eating habits, increased mental stress levels and lack of adequate exercise and sleep, our body is not able to eliminate the toxins at the rate they are formed in the body. Hence, they start accumulating within us.
Imagine a garden hose – what if some mud gets stuck in it? Will the water be able to flow through a blocked garden hose? No, it won’t. Our bodies are similar to a garden hose. When we start accumulating toxins, the “channels” (or Nadis as they are called in the Indian scriptures) get obstructed and the Universal Life Force Energy (or the Prana or Chi) is not able to flow freely to all parts of the body. (Think of it as “lack of adequate oiling and greasing of the various parts of a car’s engine”!)
As such, the various parts and organs of our body stop functioning properly over time. This leads to further disorder, chaos and accumulation of toxins. And we are caught in this never-ending cycle! Our body starts aging. So how does Reiki help?
Reiki brings us closer to the natural state of health. It gives us that “EXTRA” boost of energy to break through stubborn blocks of accumulated toxins. I like to compare the action of Reiki with that of “Drainex” that we use here in India for clearing clogged drainage pipes in our homes. You just empty the sachet into the drain, open the tap full-throttle, and BOOM! The drain-pipe is all clear!

Similarly, when someone is treated with Reiki, his blocked energy channels are cleared and, eventually, he is brought back into a state of balance and harmony… which makes him whole and healthy again. In simple words, Reiki encourages the natural ability of the patient to heal his own body. Or, you can say, it leads us back to a state of wholeness — our natural state of health and well-being.
